Our Bahamas Vacation
There’s nothing quite like the smell of the ocean air, sunscreen caked on your shoulders and crystal blue waters to ease all your troubles…
We took a week-long family vacation to Nassau and it was beautiful. I can finally cross The Atlantis off of my bucket list.
The views were breathtaking!
We spent most of the time poolside. They had 11 pools on site but we hung around the same three. We ordered plenty of icy drinks and had conch fritters on the lounge chairs.
I’m a huge foodie so I’m always excited to try the local food. We were in the Bahamas seven years ago, on a different island, but Andrew fell in love with conch. (It’s pronounced ‘konk.’) If you don’t know, it’s the little sea creature that lives inside those big shells where you can blow into to make that horn noise or listen and hear the ocean waves. To me, it’s just like squid. Nonetheless, Andrew loves it in all forms. We also couldn’t wait to try guava duffs again. I remembered it as tasting so much better the first time around, but it was still good.
The entire resort was filled with aquariums. The boys loved it and it was amazing to see at night. My favorites were the saw fish and manta ray.
We love the Bahamas but would I go back to the Atlantis? Probably not. The resort was beautiful but I give the customer service a 6/10. I liked all of the activities and restaurants but they charged an additional 15% gratuity fee on EVERYTHING plus 12% tax, so it added up quickly.
BUT it was still amazing to get away and relax with my family for a bit.
